The short answer
- iPhone and iPad: on the App Store now, iOS 15 or later.
- Android: in closed testing. There is no Play Store listing yet.
- To use it you join the tester group first, then install through Play.
- It is the same app, not a cut-down version: same tracking, same dividend forecast, same FIRE projection.
- No date is promised here, because a date that slips is worse than no date.
What “closed testing” means
Google Play has several release tracks. Closed testing means the build is real and installable, but only for people on a tester list — it does not appear if you search the Play Store, and a direct link will not install for someone who is not on the list.
That is different from open testing, where anyone with the link can install, and from a public listing. Portfolio On Fire is in the first of those three.
How to get it
- Join the tester group at groups.google.com/g/portfolio-on-fire, using the same Google account you use on your phone. This step is the one that cannot be skipped: Play checks the account against the tester list.
- Once you are in the group, the install link works and the app appears in Play as a normal install.
- Updates arrive through Play like any other app.
Joining the group with one Google account and trying to install with another. Play matches the tester list against the account signed in on the device, so those have to be the same one.
Is it the same app?
Yes. Android and iOS are built from the same codebase, so the tracking, the dividend forecasting, the FIRE projection, multi-currency handling and DeGiro import are the same on both. The nine interface languages are the same too.
The same is true of the parts that matter most: no account, no analytics, no backend. Your holdings stay on the device on Android exactly as they do on iOS, and the full JSON export works on the free tier on both.
What is different
- Cloud backup goes to your Google account rather than iCloud. Still your account, still not a server of ours.
- Pro is bought through Play rather than the App Store, so the subscription is managed in your Play account settings.
- Updates come through the tester track for as long as testing lasts, which in practice means they arrive sooner than the App Store ones.
When does it reach the Play Store?
There is no date on this page, and that is deliberate. Testing ends when the build has been through enough real devices to be worth putting in front of everyone, and announcing a date before that is how software gets shipped early.
What you can rely on: this page is updated when the status changes, and the Version 3 page records what has shipped. If you are in the tester group you will see the listing go live before any announcement does, because you will already have the app.

That is a reasonable choice and there is nothing to sign up for. There is no mailing list on this site and no account to create, which does mean there is no way for us to notify you — a consequence of the privacy design rather than an oversight.
